A tragic event rocked our community in 1996 when a seventeen-year-old Lake Park graduate was kidnapped from Woodfield Shopping Mall in broad daylight. Shortly after graduating from high school, Angela was assaulted by a repeat sex offender who was on parole for murder. Did you witness our community banding together to gather petitions that culminated with the passing of the Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act? The outcry that came from our neighbors, doctors, dentists, teachers and friends brought Angela great strength.  Because of your efforts and support, she went on to create PAVE: Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment, a nonprofit organization that uses education and action to shatter the silence of sexual violence. PAVE’s work has been featured on The Today Show, CNN, and in TIME magazine. We truly hope you will join us in this celebration benefit dinner.
